Phil Merriman is a London-based piano player who devotes his time to performing, composing, music-arranging and teaching. He studied music at York University where he developed his jazz playing with pianist John Taylor, whilst maintaining classical training. As a result, Phil’s style spreads many genres, so if you were to catch him on the way to an originals gig – he’d probably be looking forward to blending some of his favourite styles of jazz, gospel and classical music in bizarre and interesting ways. Phil also plays bass guitar and trumpet in a variety of line-ups, from jazz to a folk-funk-rock band.
He is involved in music at his church in London and enjoys being part of any project that seeks after God’s heart in worship.
Phil has a particular soft spot for dessert, if you need a favour – you’d better get baking…
